Carbohydrazide Properties And Application Description
Jan 16, 2026
Carbohydrazide (molecular formula CON₄H₆) is a white crystalline powder that is readily soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and benzene. This substance has strong reducing properties and is used in various industrial fields.
I. Main Uses
Carbohydrazide can be used as an oxygen scavenger in boiler water treatment, characterized by high deoxygenation efficiency and low toxicity; it can be used as a propellant component in the aerospace field; in the textile industry, it can be used as a crosslinking agent for elastic fibers, a formaldehyde scavenger, and an antioxidant; in addition, it has applications in daily chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, and other industries.
II. Technical Specifications
Product quality should meet the relevant standards. Specific technical parameters can be determined according to actual product specifications.
III. Method of Use
When used as a boiler oxygen scavenger, it can be added directly or as an aqueous solution. According to stoichiometry, 0.5 moles of carbohydrazide are required for every 1 mole of oxygen. An appropriate excess is recommended in actual use. The applicable temperature range is 87.8–176.7℃, and it should be added after thermal deoxygenation. The reaction equation with oxygen is: CON₄H₆ + 2O₂ → 2N₂ + 3H₂O + CO₂.
IV. Packaging and Storage
This product is generally packaged in composite plastic woven bags, with a net weight of 25kg per bag, but can also be adjusted according to user requirements. It should be stored in a cool, dry place, with a shelf life of 12 months.
